Yesterday was amazing! I got off the highway and started through the mountains making my way south towards Sydney. I was on the road by 7am getting the kinks worked out of my shoulders and heading somewhere, anywhere for brekkie. The topography had changed once again to the green and lush mountain roads as you saw yesterday in my videos and pictures. I have traveled over 10,000 kilometers and still can’t get used to the sites.
The twisties started around Gumbaynggirr National Park. During this time of the morning, the traffic was a bit heavy to attain good speeds but it was fun none-the-less. Here is a short video of the mountain roads until I got stuck behind a truck.
Along the way, I had pulled over to take a picture of a waterfall. Moving water equals happy Tina. As I waited at the roadside stop waiting for a break in traffic, another motorcycle pulled up. It was a fella on a bike similar to mine and he mentioned that there were some great falls in a national park that had recently been upgraded and had nice toilets and beautiful scenery! We parted ways and I said, “I’ll catch you in the corners!”
Once the traffic cleared up some, I hit the road to Ebor Falls. It wasn’t very far up the road and my bladder was ready for a rest stop. The guy on the blue/grey bike was already there with his biscuits and tea. He said when I pulled up, “Hey, you made it!” We chitchatted for a moment and properly introduced each other. Let me introduce Paul to you. Paul is a genius. Please watch the video and learn of my stupidity.
Yes, you heard it. All the stuff I sent back with Liz would have fit. It also means I could have bought more opal! OMG. The things you learn from the road. Paul is an amazing fella. He rides out to the national parks for a cuppa tea and biscuit almost every day. He split his biscuits with me, and we walked over to the falls. The pictures and video don’t do this place justice.
After Paul and I parted ways, it was on to the next group of twisted roads. I ended up on the Putty Road. OMG! by the time I got there the traffic had cleared out significantly. For almost 100 kilometers, I had the road to myself. I may or may not have speeded a time or two, pushing myself and the bike into the corners. How amazing was that!?! Unfortunately, no videos are available. My battery ran out on the Insta but trust me, if you have seen any Australian movies with mountains in the springtime, it was like that. I ended up in a town called Windsor for the night in a cheap hotel. Dinner, shower, blogging, and I am off to bed. Today is the Blue Mountains back to Canberra, where I bought the bike, for another night with Terry and Janelle. I am excited to share my stories with them!
I’ll leave you today with another photo of Paul the Genius as he displays his expandable trunk.
Cheers y’all!
