Sydney Day 3 Delayed

Guys, jet lag finally hit. Day three in Sydney was wet and chilly but I didn’t let rain slow me down. To start the day I finally got my international phone. From the phone it was on to Hyde park where I finally saw a busker playing the guitar. (He wasn’t that great, so no video) From the park it was on to Saint Mary’s Cathedral. The moment we walked into the chapel; we heard the organ being tuned, otherwise it was quiet and peaceful and full of stained glass as typical Catholic churches have. The building is massive! Even in the grey weather, it was a stunning building.

Hyde Park offered a multitude of trees that had no identifying markers on them, but they were also massive and with the rain trickling through them, it gave a quiet peaceful place to reflect.

There have been massive amount of steps being logged onto my fitbit the past few days. My legs and back have been screaming in pain from all the effort I haven’t put into my body for the last few years…decades…is catching up. But enough about me. From the church it was then on to the Sydney opera house. I actually got there in time for a tour and boy was it interesting. The land was used as a place of rejoicing and singing among the indigenous people so in the 20th century the Prime minister took Bennelong point and decided to create a building that represented the same atmosphere.

The building is a testament to the architectural creativity of one Jorn Utzon and in 1959 10000 laborers broke ground to create this building. Y’all, it is stunning.

From the Opera House it was on to Paddy’s Market for some souvenirs. Some people have addictions to cheap Chinese made crap. It is a massive indoor flea market full of all kinds of junk from magnets to kangaroo ball keychains. Wow.

After the flea market and literally 17000 steps, it was time to go back to the hotel. I was tired, my legs were tired, Liz was tired. We were done. Prepped a bit for the following day and crashed early.

17,000 is too round a number. Are you sure it wasn’t 16,989?
